2009 Reynella Basket Pressed Shiraz
Tasting Notes
Deep magenta in colour with crimson purple hues, the nose exhibits intensely vibrant luscious McLaren Vale Shiraz qualities, including dense primary fruits of plums, blueberry and dark red berries and chocolate spices interwoven with silky oak aromas.
The palate is defined by generous and fleshy dark fruits, plush plums and spices with generosity and terrific length. The restrained use of oak adds texture and sweetness while providing a firm structure of the finest mouthcoating tannins.
Winemaker's Notes
2009 was a cooler year, with quite mild weather during the veraison to ripening period. The mild autumn meant Shiraz retained brighter, red fruit characters. The 2009 is an excellent example of the generosity of McLaren Vale Shiraz and exhibits the hallmarks of Reynella house style – richness, density, structure and length.
