2017 HRB Chardonnay
2017 provided some cool relief from the trend towards hot, dry long summers with cool conditions and plentiful rains pushing well into summer. This gave vines ample time to ripen and develop flavour before sugar accumulated to high levels. Harvest was squeezed between rain events and hand harvesting allowed fresh flavours to be retained in fine juice. A great year for whites for those with well managed vineyards.
A complex wine of intense fruit flavours and structured acidity and subtle oak nuances that reflect the interwoven nature of this multi-regional blend. Aromatic lisbon lemon zest and almond pastry aromas, interlaced with subtle ground spice and fresh cream. On the palate this wine is intensely flavoured with notes of white peach, nectarine and lemon combined with subtle hints of spices and cream. A strong backbone of natural acidity provides vibrancy and a mineral line to a sweet and textured palate of impressive persistence.
With intense citrus aromatics and pronounced stone fruit flavours overlaying complexing tones of oak, almond and lingering creaminess, this wine reflects the depth of Hardys winemaking style. Enjoy now or carefully cellar up to 15 years from vintage
